about me....

It's strange but this...shall we say 'journey' that I'm on, oh that's so American, well what I'm going through at the moment has actually made me realise a lot of things about myself that I perhaps didn't know or weren't that obvious to me before....

  • I love colour - let me repeat that I LOVE COLOUR and not soft pastels - bright fun in your face colour, esp reds, yellows.
  • I love anything with stripes on it thin thick, they make me happy. stripes, stripes the more the merrier.
  • I use to love black clothes - now I can barely where black, maybe its the sun out her or the fact its summer but I really struggle with black now (My friend Alison always use to say that she could tell if I was in a  good place by what I was wearing fun colours = good mood/ black = unhappy) so obviously I'm happy. Yeah!
  • I'm a worrier, oh yeah I thought Steve was the worrier in our relationship, but apparently I'm crack pot!
  • I love a little research the problem is now I have too much info and don't know what to do with it all! I think I could now be a researcher for a living - I'm THAT good!
  • I HATE stuffed toys, really really hate stuffed toys! OH DEAR ITS A PROBLEM!
  • I'm a great project manager, seriously if this was my job I would rock it! I mean I am rocking it! Steve says its like a military operation! Well its is shopping what did he think I'd be like!
  • I don't need anymore clothes and I don't want to shop for me! Well bar the odd bra (which seems to be weekly at the moment as the girls are on a serious take over the world bid! ) my friend gave me 3 boxes of maternity clothes yippee, means I don't have to shop for a very long time, and I don't really want to either, too busy buying for baby! oh and old navy maternity jeans are the best!
  • I'm become an eco/ organic warrior! we recycle, we have an organic veggie box delivered, and I'm buying a lot my nursery stuff organic/ eco, I've always been a pareben free cosmetic girl but its become extreme - nothing goes into this body that's bad oh except frazzles and I have limited supplies of those as you can't get them in the US, oh and ice cream!
  • Oh and I may be a breastfeeding warrior too though I'll wait to decide and see when I've tried it! I use to hate the thought of it, it freaked me out, now I'm all for it? am I changing? am I turning hippy???
  • I need to go on can't cook wont cook - I seriously have lost my mojo on this one, poor Steve comes home from work and says whats for dinner and I say (really enthusiastically) well I thought we could have a BBQ - in other words your cooking!!! oh I need to have a word with myself I mean its not like I don't have all day to do it! poor poor Steve x
  •  I am already a BM - Steves words ( boring Mummy) awhhhh - must try harder! who cares!
Well thats it for home truths

    it's complicated

I'm in love with the house in this film, its another by the writer and director of "Something's Gotta Give," Nancy Meyers, and the house in that was my dream home in New England, somewhere like that, ahhhh

The film "It's Complicated," stars Meryl Streep as Jane, a bakery owner and a divorced mother of three in her 50s who has an affair with her married ex-husband (Alec Baldwin) at the same time she becomes romantically involved with the architect working on her house renovations (Steve Martin)

Oh and I'd love her job and the bakery is beautiful too,

It was a good film too I really enjoyed it, one to rent.

I kinda dream this is what the place we wanted to buy in France would look like, with a beautiful vine covered patio and loads of friends and family drinking wine and eating salads with my homemade olive oil - oh yeah that's part of the dream to a olive farm, want much??

    update....week 25

    142lbs
    37inches around middle
    37 inches around boobs
    15 weeks to go.....

yeah finally my belly has caught up with the boobies.....though the boobies are still humongous!! life of there own style boobies.

    Cravings......bacon
illnesses - only heartburn, awful but bearable, many many glasses of milk!!! as I'm not taking, if I can help it any medicine (bar my thyroid meds) during my pregnancy!
oh and painful hips after walking.

now wearing full on maternity gear! yuk apologies for the awful shot of me above - bad face day!

    Round R x

    ...and a cudly toy!!!

To say I HATE cuddly toys is a understatement, I HATE CUDDLY TOYS!!!!
a problem me thinks, how can I deny my new baby its cuddly toys but OK, I HATE certain cuddly toys, like the ones you get in build a bear ( synthetic?? maybe)

Anyway I've done a little search into acceptable cuddly toys - yeah I know I'm gonna have to get use to scary acrylic monstrosities soon but while baby g is under my control its style and cuteness all the way.....

    Check out what I've found........

Is this little monster cute or should I say Monsieur! from here,  and blogged about at my favourite blog of the moment inhabitots
Monsieur’s little recycled cardboard house was beautifully designed by Isabelle Arsenault, a Quebec illustrator. Bonus: 10% of the profits from the sale of this organic softy are donated to UNICEF.

    Or this?.....

I even like this sort of thing...

Who says style has to be compromised when your having a baby....erm  that said I'm writing this in my underpants and tshirt, it's sooo hot! mmmm so much for style!

    Sometimes I forget

Sometimes I forget I'm pregnant, like when I wake up and think oh my look at that belly when I go to get up, or when I catch my reflection in a shop window, or when I try to run across a road as a car is waiting, or when I go to Starbucks and forget to order and half shot latte, ooop!

But the funniest moment so far has been at the pool, I'd slathered on the factor 30 and was looking at my friends kids playing in the pool and though oh I could just do a cannonball now right into where the kids were playing how funny would that be......oh wait I pregnant probably not the best idea!

    24 weeks... 22lbs!

EEEEk its going fast though not as fast as I thought, for some reason at week 22 I thought it was 23 and so I ended up with 2  week 23, so now at 24 I'm thinking its slow again - did any of that make sense??
pregnancy brain or just me brain???

Anyway I went to the Ob/gyn today for a check up and she did me a scan, and baby wasn't playing ball facing in and wouldn't turn so no good photos, but it did move and I felt it which is the first time I've seen and felt it at the same time really cool and weird at the same time.

Alls doing well though I've put on 22lb phew, where?? I mean I feel bigger but not that bigger! and then I saw another girl in there who was the same week as me (she had the tell tale glucose drink for her next appointment) and she had the teeny tiniest bump - mmmmm ah well I'm sure it'll be another 20 before I've had it the way I'm going, and I'm not over eating or even 'eating for 2' scary x who knew fruit weight that much - or ice cream for that matter!

Oh goodbye faithful jeans, wear at any time jeans, dig out for any occasion jeans, dress up or down jeans, oh goodbye wonderful perfect jeans, make my butt look fabulous jeans, you may one day fit me again but the fashion may have changed by then!!! (yes Steve I know you're getting me a personal trainer after the baby is born, but realistically Mr professional Sportsman it still may take me a while!)
Oh Jeans, my wonderful jeans you may have been looking slightly tired and frayed around the edges and have been buttoned up with a hair tie for the last 5 months but you we're a wonderful pair.
    Goodbye!

Oh joy of joys let the maternity jean battle begin!

    Nursery BEFORE shots..

    before.......
mmm big black blob on camera - houston we have a problem - crap crap crap wanted to wait til the thanksgiving sales to get a new one boooooooo.

So photos - top the blank wall I want to put mural on - wish it didn't have those electrical outlets.
second shot the window - may treat this with a linen curtain panel though not sure yet I want to put poles up! rented.
third shot - weird area in room meant for TV? gonna use as my changing table! and poss a few shelves behind.
Fourth is our onto the landing between bedrooms may decorate this with a few mural trees as well to bring all together.

Shame I can't decorate but its not so bad a neutral colour at least the white birch trees will stand out x

Eeeekk can't wait to do the after shots now, am waiting for my parents to come out and help me, so August! can I wait that long!

Moses Baskets....a decision needs to be made?

So we have made the decision that the baby when it comes will be in with us for the first few weeks/ months and therefore we need a bed - I want the Cot / Crib to be in the baby's room all set up - but wont buy the  mattress until we need it as its another expense.
We will also be travelling in December to Florida to meet up with Steve's parents and then back to the UK to visit my parents and sisters and friends and will probably need a very portable bed for our baby..... here are some of the choices I've seen and liked or semi liked so far....

The Original Style - mmmmm a little boring! - but cheaper, not necessarily Eco friendly or organic - may be full of petrochemical mattress? but cheaper - around $90 plus $40 for the stand

The Modern one - I really like this one it comes with a travel bag and Organic mattress, also can be used to travel with...maybe a good option with our plans to travel to Florida in December and the UK for Christmas? $180 - but $89 for the organic mattress? and I would need an stand?
Edges might get filthy - may not be able to remove the fabric!

Organic seed cradle - not transportable though so maybe ruled out already $329!

Cute stand - could the inner bit be transportable? maybe small - I need to check the size oh and the price ouch $395!

All organic and poss transportable? totally organic - $349
I do like this one esp as it comes all together stand etc - and the fact it's all organic - but expensive!
Do you reckon I could put this as hand luggage on the plane? (not the stand obviously!)

Help this is my baby's first bed and I can't decide which to go with??? come on any practical advice?
